Senior Network Automation Engineer

About This Role

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with a passion for innovation and excellence to join our team. As a key member of our Global Network Dev Ops team, you will be responsible for automating, maintaining, and managing core network services, network monitoring tools, and security infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, WAN, network monitoring tools, and network security infrastructure. They will also possess excellent communication skills and be able to work closely with expert network architects and engineers to drive adoption of network automation practices and operating models across all Global Network teams.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure automation, instrumentation, and monitoring platforms, as well as emerging technologies in this area. The successful candidate will be able to design and implement complex networks, automate network functions using tools such as Ansible, Python, and Terraform, and build network test and deployment automation pipelines using Git and CICD tools like Git Actions, Jenkins, Harness, and Helm charts.

Key Responsibilities

• Automate 100% of global network operations and find innovative ways to improve the global end-user experience.
• Build the next-generation innovative and self-healing network automation platform.
• Collaborate with expert network architects and great engineers to drive adoption of network automation practices and operating models.
• Establish technical-level relationships and partner with business disciplines and other MI teams to define and implement the network automation solution.
• Provide input and assistance to other teams regarding projects.
• Determine priorities, schedules, plans, and necessary resources to ensure completion of any projects on schedule.

Requirements

• ~3-5 years' experience as a Network Engineer with designing and implementing complex networks.
• ~3-5 years of experience with automating network functions using tools such as Ansible, Python, and Terraform.
• ~3+ years of experience with administering Ansible Automation Platform to support network automation.
• ~3+ years of experience in building network test and deployment automation pipelines using Git and CICD tools like Git Actions, Jenkins, Harness, and Helm charts.
• ~2+ years' experience as part of a network operations team.
• Certification in network and/or security technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in DevOps and Test-driven culture and managing code life cycle using Git and related processes & tools.
• Knowledge with Python web development (Apache, Flask, WSGI, Docker, K8's, HTML/CSS) to create custom network management tools.
• Experience with writing Infrastructure as a Code for Cloud network components (VPC, RT, TGW, WAN, Shared Services) as well as Firewalls as a Service, SDWAN, SSE/SASE.
• Experience with writing automations for Compliance management, Configuration management, SoT, Golden configs etc.
• Experience in Network automation software, libraries, and tools such as Netmiko, Nornir, Netbox, PyATS, Genie, F5 SDK, Pan-os-python etc.
• Experience managing AAP (Ansible Automation Platform) admin functions, backups, recovery, upgrade, integrations, best practices, governance, KPI reports.
• Knowledge with Load Balancers viz F-GTM/LTM, Cloud equivalent.
• Knowledge managing Linux platforms.
• Experience working in a Scrum team or other Agile methodologies.
• Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products and synthesizing into clear technology roadmaps and strategies.

General Networking Background Expected:

• Implementation of WAN, LAN, and datacenter networks with a focus on mission-critical, customer-facing applications and services.
• Technical knowledge in networking (Cisco and non-Cisco) with an emphasis on Datacenter networks, WAN, LAN, Network security and Management tools and core network services such as DNS, NTP & IPAM.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering written documents detailing network solutions and diagrams.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure automation, instrumentation, and monitoring platforms and the emerging technologies in this area.
• Graduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification.
