Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to build scalable solutions and design efficient data flows. This is a project-based role that requires expertise in system architecture, backend components, APIs, and integrations.
About the Role:
You will be working on the backbone of our platform, responsible for APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and infrastructure. Your tasks will include:
- Solution Design and Development: You will work on building reliable solutions, shaping the architecture, challenging assumptions, and proposing alternative ways of doing things.
- Data Flow Architecture: You will work across PostgreSQL, key-value stores, caches, and object storage to ensure efficient data flows.
- Authentication and Authorization: You will implement secure authentication/authorisation using Auth0, OAuth2, OIDC, and JWT.
- Search and External API Integrations: You will work on search/vector search/ranking and external API integrations using OpenAI, Azure, etc.
- Monitoring and Observability: You will set up monitoring and observability using OpenTelemetry, dashboards, and SLOs.
- Data Regulations Compliance: You will remain aware of and build for data regulations such as GDPR and others.
- Containerization and Scalability: You will containerise solutions for scalability and compute flexibility using Docker/K8s/serverless, CDNs/WAFs.
- Collaboration: You will collaborate across teams - tech and non-tech - find gaps, ask questions, and make suggestions.
- Algorithm Development: You will help design and implement algorithms combining ingredient databases, human behaviour patterns, and ethical/product metadata into transparent scoring.
