Machine Learning Engineer

The role of Machine Learning Engineer is crucial in our organization as we strive to leverage data science and analytics to improve the user experience. This position sits at the intersection of various disciplines including computer science, statistics, operations research, and data science.

  • Credit Decisions: Developing models that accurately predict borrower behavior based on unstructured and structured data is a key responsibility. This involves understanding complex data patterns and signals that can identify good borrowers.
  • Customer Service: Utilizing machine learning and natural language processing techniques, we aim to automate customer service interactions, providing context to our customer service team.
  • Fraud Prevention: Identifying patterns of fraudulent behavior and building models to detect and prevent these behaviors are critical components of this role.
  • Team work: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including policy and product teams, is essential as we continuously improve processes and explore new opportunities.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in software development in a production environment, preferably in a startup or early-stage setting.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and SQL, as well as a deep understanding of cloud computing infrastructure and data pipelines.
  • A diverse range of data skills, including experimentation, statistics, and machine learning, applied to inform business decisions.
  • Strong self-motivation, initiative, and ability to teach oneself new skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and a drive to make a positive impact on customers' lives.
