Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team.

  • This is a full-time position that involves designing, developing and maintaining back-end systems supporting our maritime operations platform.
  • You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of backend services with frontend applications, databases, and other core systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of software developers providing guidance, mentorship, and support ensuring team effectiveness and productivity.
  • Contribute to the design and development of scalable, maintainable, and efficient software architecture.
  • Take full ownership of the product lifecycle from conceptualization through development and deployment.
  • Implement Test-Driven Development practices writing comprehensive unit tests ensuring high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code.
  • Build reusable, modular code and libraries promoting efficiency and consistency across projects.
  • Optimize applications for maximum performance, speed, and scalability.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices ensuring compliance with data protection regulations to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for all systems and processes related to the products you own.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in software development, leadership or management role.
  • Strong programming foundation in Python including debugging and performance analysis.
  • Experience developing web applications and APIs REST, XML, other open sources good knowledge of frameworks Django / Flask.
  • Considerable expertise on secure software development handling sensitive data.
  • In-depth knowledge of Source Code Repository experience working with Git.
  • Hands-on experience in DB design & Architecture focusing on performance.
  • Knowledge of caching techniques utilities like Memcache / Redis.
  • Experience working on Apache Nginx web/app server.
  • Experience containerization tool Docker.
  • Enterprise-level deployment and scaling experience.
  • Strong analytical critical thinking skills solving complex problems making informed decisions.
  • Excellent leadership communication interpersonal skills collaborating with team members stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree computer science Information Technology related field equivalent practical experience.
