Job Overview

Mechanical design specialists in solar projects are accountable for ensuring that executed mechanical works align with approved engineering designs and industry standards.

These experts bridge the gap between the Head Office Mechanical Design Team and Site Execution Team, reviewing and interpreting mechanical design drawings issued by HO. They prepare or modify site-specific mechanical drawings when required, conduct wind load and structural stability checks for site conditions, verify MMS foundation positions, tilt angles, and row spacing as per design, and support fabrication, welding, and erection quality checks against approved standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret mechanical design drawings issued by the Head Office.
  • Prepare or modify site-specific mechanical drawings as necessary.
  • Conduct wind load and structural stability checks tailored to specific site conditions.
  • Verify MMS foundation positions, tilt angles, and row spacing according to design specifications.
  • Support quality checks on fabrication, welding, and erection processes against approved standards.
  • Provide design clarifications and modifications at the site and coordinate with HO for approvals.
  • Issue red-marked drawings or as-built drawings after project completion.
  • Collaborate with civil and electrical teams to resolve interdisciplinary design issues.
  • Assist site teams in resolving mechanical erection bottlenecks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design/drafting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of MMS, trackers, and steel structures used in solar projects.
  • Understanding of IS/IEC codes, wind load standards, welding/fabrication practices.
  • Ability to perform basic structural calculations for MMS and support structures.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection of welding, bolting, and module installation.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills for site-level challenges.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design and site execution (solar/renewable/industrial projects preferred).
