Systems Architectural Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team.

  • Design, build and maintain backend components, APIs and integrations
  • Help architect data flows across databases, caches and storage systems
  • Implement secure authentication/authorisation using Auth0, OAuth2 and JWT
  • Support search/vector search/ranking and external API integrations
  • Set up monitoring and observability using OpenTelemetry and dashboards
  • Remain aware of and build for data regulations such as GDPR
  • Containerise solutions for scalability and compute flexibility using Docker/K8s/serverless
  • Write adapters, contract tests and manage schema diffs for evolving systems
  • Collaborate with teams to identify gaps and suggest improvements
  • Design and implement algorithms combining data from various sources

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend engineering and system architecture
  • Strong grasp of data flows, infrastructure and integration patterns
  • Proficiency with REST APIs, backend/frontend integration and secrets hygiene
  • Experience with databases, caching, object storage and streaming systems
  • Knowledge of containerisation, serverless environments and CDNs
  • Familiarity with hybrid/vector search and ranking approaches
  • Understanding of PII/PHI/GDPR handling in production systems
  • Experience with data modelling, ML pipelines or applied machine learning in production systems
