Job Description

As a highly skilled software engineering leader, you will have the opportunity to drive transformative change within our organization. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates with speed, efficiency, and quality.

The Platform Product Group engineers are responsible for building and maintaining critical platforms that exist at Coinbase. This includes Product Foundations, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure teams.

Our team is dynamic and ambitious, focused on building centralized AI infrastructure and acceleration solutions that drive productivity, innovation, and customer impact across Coinbase.

  • Hands-on architecture & development of platforms for all LLM use-cases in Coinbase along with leading a team of ICs
  • Provide technical guidance to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
  • Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise.
  • Form a deep understanding of our Machine Learning Engineers' needs and our current capabilities and gaps.
  • Mentor junior engineers on how to build high-quality software, and take their skills to the next level.
  • Continually raise our engineering standards to maintain high-availability and low-latency for our ML inference infrastructure that runs both predictive ML models and LLMs.
  • Optimize low latency streaming pipelines to give our ML models the freshest and highest quality data.
  • Evangelize state-of-the-art practices on building high-performance distributed training jobs that process large volumes of data.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement scalable architectures for our ML infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product roadmaps and requirements
  • Lead high-performing teams of engineers to deliver complex technical projects
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and reuse

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • At least 2+ years of engineering management experience.
  • Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling production applications
  • Experience in upleveling junior engineers via processes and setting a high bar for them to follow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices.

  • Background in working with AI/LLM models
  • Experience with Golang, Docker, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB
