Network Engineer with System Administration Expertise

Job Description

We seek a skilled Network Engineer with System Administration expertise to join our IT infrastructure team.

  • Support and maintain network operations while handling system administration tasks for servers, storage, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise IT systems through a balance of networking knowledge and system admin experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and support Layer 2 (switching) and Layer 3 (routing) network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Handle VLANs, trunking, STP, port security, and link aggregation.
  • Assist in escalated issues from L1 engineers and coordinate with vendors if required.
  • Perform periodic network health checks, patching, and firmware upgrades.
  • Document network topologies, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in networking and system administration roles.
  • Strong understanding of L2/L3 networking (VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, QoS).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper/HP/Aruba switches and routers.
  • Proficiency in Windows/Mac system administration.
  • Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix, etc.).
  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) is a plus.
