RF Design Engineer Job Overview

This position involves designing and developing RF (Radio Frequency) components, systems, and sub-systems. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of RF hardware and system design principles, as well as hands-on experience with various tools and technologies.

The job requires the ability to understand complex RF component characteristics, validate designs, and guide PCB teams for layout and routing. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of measurement techniques, such as harmonics, IP3, noise figure, gain, P1dB, and VSWR. Laboratory experience with equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters, and signal generators is also necessary.

Experience with RF design tools like ADS, AWR, and HFSS is a must. The ideal candidate should also have knowledge of RADAR subsystem/system design and be able to create project documentation needed for design, reviews, test procedures, ATP/QTP, etc.

Responsibilities include frequency planning, power budget analysis, and compliance to specifications/requirements. The candidate will also be involved in creating, reviewing, and documenting module-level architectures for RF sub-systems. Interacting with digital hardware, FPGA RTL, software, and mechanical teams during the design stage is also essential.

Mandatory skills include TR module design, CW/pulsed power amplifier design, synthesizer design, up/down convertor design, lumped and distributed element filter design, handling a team of 2 or more engineers (design & senior design engineers), and time management, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, and collaboration.

Key responsibilities include creating project documentation, interacting with cross-functional teams, guiding the PCB team, validating designs, and performing measurements. To succeed in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills, be a team player, and have a passion for RF design engineering.
