Piping Stress Engineer

Role Overview:

As a Piping Stress Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the mechanical integrity, safe operation, and compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and client specifications of piping systems through detailed static and dynamic analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Analysis:
    • Perform comprehensive stress analysis for sustained, thermal expansion, and pressure loads on critical and non-critical piping systems.
    • Conduct advanced dynamic analyses including seismic, wind load, slug flow, fluid transient, acoustic-induced vibration, flow-induced vibration, fatigue, and complex system modeling.
  • Support and Load Design:
    • Design and select standard and special piping support components, including spring hangers, snubbers, expansion joints, and guides.
    • Communicate accurate load data to civil and structural engineering teams for foundation, pipe rack, and equipment design.
    • Evaluate reinforcement at pipe supports, branch connections, and trunnions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare project-specific piping stress specifications and design basis documents.
    • Issue stress critical line lists, marked-up isometrics, and detailed stress analysis reports.
    • Prepare technical requisitions and datasheets for specialty piping items.
  • Quality and Compliance:
    • Ensure all analysis and design comply with international codes and standards like ASME B31 series, API, and client specifications.
    • Participate in project review meetings to address and resolve piping-related issues.
    • Review and approve vendor documentation and drawings.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination:
    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure interfaces are managed and loads are correctly communicated.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
    • Collaborate with procurement by performing technical bid evaluations.
