Job Description

As a Senior Optics Engineer, you will lead the design and development of the electron-optical column, source, lenses, detector coupling, and imaging quality for reliable, high-resolution performance. This is an opportunity to shape the future of microscopy and drive innovation in optics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect and align the column for high-resolution, low-drift performance.
  • Translate optics theory into tolerances, calibration routines, and alignment jigs that are repeatable outside the lab.
  • Collaborate with Electronics and Software teams to ensure deterministic beam control and intuitive imaging controls.
  • Develop and maintain the calibration playbook - resolution, magnification, distortion - and train others to run it effectively.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in electron optics, including hands-on work with alignment, vacuum hardware, and lab metrology. Comfortable moving between modeling, bench work, and documentation.

  • Deep understanding of optics principles and their application in microscope design.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to diagnose and troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently.
