Job Summary:

The primary goal of this position is to oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of SQL Servers. This entails ensuring that servers are upgraded, patched, and configured for high availability and disaster recovery.

  • Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Installation/Upgradation/Migration of SQL Servers: Ensure seamless installation, upgradation, or migration of SQL Servers to meet organizational needs.
  • Patching and Upgrading: Regularly apply patches or service packs for SQL Server to maintain optimal performance and security.
  • High Availability/Disaster Recovery: Configure solutions to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in case of disruptions.
  • Alert Configuration: Set up automated alerts to notify teams about potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Incident Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents, change tickets, and problem tickets efficiently.
  • Maintenance Plans: Establish and implement regular maintenance plans for backups, database integrity checks, index rebuilds, statistics updates, and job execution to prevent errors.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot locking issues, including deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts, and resolve them promptly.
  • Bridge Call Participation: Participate in bridge calls to collaborate on troubleshooting and resolving P1 (SEV1) and P2 (SEV2) incidents.
  • Always On and DB Mirroring: Possess hands-on experience in implementing Always On and DB Mirroring solutions.
  • Schema Changes: Execute database schema changes and maintain a controlled development environment to ensure smooth operations.
  • Server Configuration: Work closely with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers according to application demands.
  • Database Object Deployment: Handle the deployment of database objects to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • HA Support: Provide day-to-day support for high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases, identifying root causes of production problems and collaborating with developers to resolve them.
  • Performance Tuning: Focus on performance tuning through creating missing indexes to enhance system efficiency.
  • Shift Work: Demonstrate willingness to work in 24X7 projects, adapting to various shifts as required.
  • Scripting Experience: Possess experience in scripting using Perl and PowerShell.
  • Cloud Experience: Have experience working with AWS and Azure platforms.
