Lead Software Engineering Manager

About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineering Manager to join our fast-paced team. As a key member of our leadership group, you'll be responsible for leading a small team of engineers working on specific facets of our products and infrastructure across the stack.

You will work closely with stakeholders to help us achieve our objectives and collaborate with other leaders to build the right organizational structures and processes as we continue to grow.

We prioritize bottom-up innovation and decentralized decision-making, empowering team members to propose solutions to challenges we face. As a Lead Software Engineering Manager, you will facilitate servant-style leadership and remove roadblocks to help the team achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will recruit, grow, and empower a team of driven engineers who have high expectations around ownership, impact, and technical excellence.

  • Crafting a thoughtful technical strategy with your team, anticipating future needs while being pragmatic about what's needed today.
  • As a hands-on technical contributor and mentor, you'll roll up your sleeves and do actual technical work when necessary.
  • You will work with engineering managers and functional leads to set direction and ambitious goals for your team, Engineering, and our organization as a whole.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in software engineering management, preferably in a technology firm or a startup.
  • Significant software engineering experience, ideally across organizations, industries, and technology stacks.
  • A record of mentorship and career growth assistance.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for recruiting, combined with a thoughtful approach to team growth.
