API Tester Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled API Tester to validate MuleSoft APIs and integrations, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in API testing tools, a strong understanding of REST/SOAP, and hands-on experience with MuleSoft platform components and architecture.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and business analysts to understand API specifications and business requirements.
  • Design detailed test strategies, plans, and scenarios for MuleSoft APIs.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing of MuleSoft APIs.
  • Validate RESTful and SOAP-based APIs, checking response formats, headers, status codes, and business logic.
  • Execute API mocking and simulate downstream system responses.
  • Develop automated API test scripts using ReadyAPI or alternative tools like Postman, SoapUI, and JMeter.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Identify, log, track, and retest defects using a tracking tool.
  • Prepare and maintain test documentation including test cases, scripts, and summary reports.
  • Write complex SQL queries for backend data verification.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in API testing, with 3+ years in MuleSoft API testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, ReadyAPI).
  • Knowledge of MuleSoft platform components and architecture.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong understanding of HTTP, JSON, XML, OAuth2, JWT, API security standards.
  • Expertise in writing complex SQL queries for data validation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: MuleSoft Certified Developer or MuleSoft Certified Integration/Platform Specialist.
  • ISTQB Certification.
  • Additional Skills:
  • Experience in DevOps pipelines and API automation.
  • Exposure to performance/load testing with JMeter or ReadyAPI.
