Responsible AI Engineering Lead

This is a foundational leadership role, combining the stability of a permanent position with the upside of equity participation.

We are expanding into solutions at the intersection of Responsible AI and GRC — working directly with regulators, standards bodies, and highly regulated industries to set the benchmark for trustworthy AI.

  • Define and lead the architecture of new systems (back-end, APIs, lightweight front-end).
  • Integrate open-source AI testing and assurance libraries into deployable frameworks.
  • Deliver lightweight, portable solutions in cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and rigorously test models against fairness, robustness, explainability, and governance principles.
  • Implement reproducible pipelines for evaluation, benchmarking, and reporting.
  • Create dashboards and artefacts suitable for supervisors, standards bodies, and clients.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in AI/ML model development and testing, as well as experience with cloud computing and scaling AI models. They will also have excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to operate across technical and non-technical teams.

Requirements
  • Proven track record building, training, and evaluating AI/ML models (industry, research, or advanced academic projects).
  • Experience developing or integrating AI testing and assurance tools strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML/AI libraries.
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and knowledge of scaling, training, and deployment of AI models.
  • Awareness of Responsible AI frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, FCA/ESMA guidance).
  • Hands-on familiarity with explainability and fairness tools (e.g. SHAP, LIME, AIF360, ART).
