About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive innovation in next-generation product development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem-solving, strong analytical skills, and experience with 3D modeling, mechanical system design, prototyping, and design for manufacturability (DFM).

This is a challenging opportunity to lead cross-functional teams and develop complex mechanical components and assemblies for high-reliability, ruggedized products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems that meet precise requirements, including IP65/IP68-rated enclosures for harsh environments.
  • Create detailed technical drawings using CAD tools like SolidWorks, ensuring alignment with manufacturing needs.
  • Lead prototyping efforts using methods like CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and plastic molding.
  • Select materials and manufacturing processes that meet mechanical, thermal, and environmental demands.
  • Analyze tolerance, stress, and thermal performance to ensure mechanical robustness and compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaborate with electronics and software engineering teams to integrate mechanical components seamlessly into multi-disciplinary systems.
  • Oversee testing and validation of mechanical components and systems, including fit, form, and function assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD modeling and drafting using tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical enclosure design, especially for IP65/IP68-rated products and rugged environments.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and injection molding.
  • In-depth understanding of material selection, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical design calculations (stress, thermal, vibration).
  • Knowledge of DFM and DFA principles to optimize designs for cost-effective production.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, technical drawing standards, and industry norms (ASME, ISO).
  • Experience in preparing BOMs, assembly drawings, and detailed documentation for production and quality assurance.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset for tackling complex mechanical design challenges.
  • Creativity and innovation in developing robust, efficient, and manufacturable mechanical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail in 3D modeling, technical drawings, and documentation to ensure design accuracy and consistency.

Educational & Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
  • Certifications in mechanical design, CAD tools, or project management are a plus.
  • Relevant industry experience and prior leadership roles in mechanical design are highly desirable.
