Underground Cable Design Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Underground Cable Design Specialist to join our Transmission & Distribution team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or civil engineering, with expertise in underground powerline projects. This role requires a proficient and innovative designer who can manage multiple projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and client requirements.

  1. Design and Drafting: Prepare designs and drawings for underground powerline projects using software such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
  2. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Coordinate and oversee the workload of lower-level drafting personnel, responsible for their mentorship and technical development, ensuring all project deliverables are of high quality and submitted on time.
  3. Project Management: Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and deliverables in parallel, finding solutions to complex problems and prioritizing work effectively.
  4. Innovation & Compliance: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field, identifying optimal methods to perform design tasks and ensuring all designs comply with relevant codes of practice, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Education & Experience: A Diploma in Electrical/Civil with 3-4 years of experience or an ITI in Electrical/Civil with 6-8 years of experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Civil 3D or MicroStation for creating plan profile drawings is essential.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong analytical capability, excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexibility, and willingness to travel as needed to meet project requirements.
