Cloud Infrastructure Specialist Role

Job Overview:

This Cloud Infrastructure Specialist role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure.

You will work closely with clients to deliver outcomes that meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Statements of Work (SOWs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud-based systems or maintain existing ones on Google Cloud Platform based on specifications.
  • Collaborate with various Agile development teams for existing and new products and solutions related to cloud enablement, migration, and infrastructure needs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their use cases and operational needs, as well as with cloud platform vendors to understand technology roadmaps and evolution.
  • Design for cloud security and compliance to ensure solution reliability.
  • Conduct audits on current cloud utilization and recommend optimization and security changes.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

Platform Management:

  • Oversee the architecture and management of GCP resources, particularly BigQuery, Databricks, and Kubernetes.

Architecting Solutions:

  • Design scalable and efficient data architectures tailored to specific business needs.

Optimization of Workloads:

  • Analyze and optimize data processing workloads to improve performance and reduce costs.

Performance Measurement:

  • Implement monitoring and performance metrics for data pipelines and applications.

Cost Monitoring:

  • Develop strategies for cost-effective resource usage, including budget tracking and optimization techniques.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with data engineers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

Required Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services, particularly BigQuery, Databricks, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Proven track record in optimizing data processing and query performance in BigQuery.
  • Proficient in deploying and managing containerized applications using Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with GCP billing and cost management tools to monitor and optimize cloud expenditure.
  • Experience with GCP monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Stackdriver, Cloud Monitoring).
