We are seeking a talented Research Associate to join our team at UNSW, working on an exciting Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship project.
The successful candidate will contribute towards the project's aims, investigating the climate processes that lead to relationships between climate state, rainfall intensity, and groundwater recharge.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop research expertise in climate science, with a strong focus on communication and collaboration within the team.
As a Research Associate, you will work closely with project investigators, coordinating and undertaking data analysis, drafting papers for publication, and presenting research findings at conferences.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to collaborative research projects, enhancing the quality of research outcomes.
- Design, configure, and run climate model simulations to investigate climate processes.
- Conduct independent research under limited direction from supervisors.
- Collaborate with researchers across the Laureate fellowship team and Climate Change Research Centre.
- Maintain a strong focus on communicating research findings through publications and presentations.
- PhD (or soon to be awarded) in climate science or related areas.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out scientific research independently and collaboratively.
- Strong research and publication track record in climate science.
- Evidence of high-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated programming skills in a Unix/Linux environment.
This is a fixed-term position for 2 years, offering a salary range of $110k - $117k per year, plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
The role reports to Associate Professor Andrea Taschetto and does not have direct reports.
