Electrical Powertrain Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Powertrain Engineer to join our team.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical powertrain systems for vehicles, including high-voltage battery packs, electrical wiring harnesses, and busbars.
  • Collaborate with system engineers to ensure implementation of design changes during program development, prototype, and production build phases according to project timeline.
  • Carry out stack-up analysis on designed components.
  • Develop test cases, design rules, or requirements as required.
  • Benchmarking and concept development.
  • Working on quality assurance, request for quotation, and support plan with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Creating and managing failure modes and effects analysis, process failure mode and effects analysis, bill of materials, and bill of processes.
  • Comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Design and develop interface plastics and sheet metal components required in battery enclosures.
  • Support development of parts in-house or at supplier end.
  • Participate in supplier product part approval activities and periodic audits to improve quality and processes.
  • Support builds, creating supply plans for prototype and production vehicles.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience working with high-voltage battery packs, cells, and modules.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing EDS high-voltage harnesses and busbars, battery management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Good knowledge of tooling feasibility, raw materials, and their sources and familiarity with full design life cycle process.
  • Knowledge of education, battery modules, busbar, DCDC converter, and motors will be an added advantage.
  • Key practitioner in problem-solving techniques (e.g. six-sigma)
  • Understanding of failure modes and effects analysis, process failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Experience using industry standard engineering change request processes.
  • Experience with EDS power distribution and components.
  • Preferred: Experience in electrical wiring harness, busbar, fuse, connectors, relays, routing, and packaging in CATIA V5/V6
