Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this position are to ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards, manage revenue recognition, perform detailed accounting research, and effectively lead staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the month-end close process, including recording income, expenses, and changes in assets and liabilities according to IFRS requirements.
  • Review and approve journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analyses for management.
  • Prepare quarterly lender compliance package.
  • Ensure technical accounting compliance, monitoring relevant IFRS and US GAAP developments to ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with current standards.
  • Serve as an internal technical accounting expert, performing research and preparing technical accounting memos, and reviewing new and existing revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Work cross-functionally during contract negotiation, analyzing the impact of non-standard contract terms, communicating revenue impact, and offering alternative structures.
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting and annual budget processes.
  • Support the annual audit and quarterly reviews, providing supporting analysis and technical accounting memos.
  • Provide training sessions and keep business partners informed of developments in accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Develop and improve existing policies, procedures, and controls.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA/CA Certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 7 years of financial and accounting experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • At least 2 years of public accounting experience required.
Skills/Knowledge:
  • Strong technical accounting background, with thorough knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, including experience with technical research and preparation of accounting memorandums.
  • Software revenue recognition a plus.
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate complex accounting issues to the finance and non-finance team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently, and manage individuals.
  • Detail-oriented with high ethics and integrity.
  • Experience with accounting systems, Microsoft D365 Finance experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledgeable in complex functions/data analysis using tools such as V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.
  • Ability to foster a positive team atmosphere to drive success.
