At WisdomWood High (WWH), the Homeroom Teacher for Grades 1–2 is the academic, emotional, and cultural anchor of the classroom. This role goes beyond subject delivery, it is about guiding children through their early years of formal schooling with curiosity, care, and coherence.The Homeroom Teacher designs integrated, inquiry-led learning experiences across English, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, while nurturing independence, emotional literacy, and a strong sense of belonging. The role reflects IB-inspired primary pedagogy, thoughtfully aligned with CBSE and NEP 2020; conceptual, child-centred, and reflective.Key Responsibilities1. Inquiry-Driven Pedagogy & Classroom LeadershipDesign and deliver integrated, concept-based learning across English, Math, and EVS, with inquiry as the core driver.Facilitate learning cycles that encourage questioning, exploration, sense-making, and reflection.Connect literacy, numeracy, science, and life skills through meaningful, real-world contexts.Use storytelling, manipulatives, art, movement, and outdoor learning to deepen understanding and engagement.Differentiate instruction to support varied learning needs, paces, and strengths, ensuring inclusion for every child.Establish the classroom as a safe, joyful, and intellectually stimulating space where children feel confident to take risks in learning.2. Planning, Documentation & AssessmentDevelop strong weekly and monthly lesson plans aligned with school learning outcomes and NEP 2020 competencies.Design and implement formative and summative assessments that evaluate conceptual understanding, skills, and application.Maintain detailed student portfolios capturing academic growth, reflections, and work samples.Contribute consistently and accurately to the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) — documenting scholastic, co-scholastic, and socio-emotional development.Analyse assessment data and collaborate with the Primary Learning Lead to design timely academic or emotional interventions.3. Student Well-being & Class CommunityServe as the primary mentor and emotional anchor for students in the homeroom.Build predictable routines that promote independence, responsibility, and self-regulation.Integrate social-emotional learning through circle time, reflection, mindfulness, and guided discussions.Observe students closely to identify behavioural, emotional, or learning needs and collaborate with the Student Support Specialist when required.Model respectful communication, restorative discipline, and values-based behaviour consistently.4. Collaboration & Professional PracticeWork closely with language teachers, creative coaches (Art, Music, Movement), and STEM facilitators to ensure cohesive learning experiences.Participate actively in weekly planning meetings, reflection circles, and curriculum reviews.Support school exhibitions, student showcases, and grade-level events that highlight learning journeys.Engage in ongoing professional development aligned with inquiry-based learning, reflective practice, and digital integration at WWH.5. Parent Partnership & CommunicationBuild strong, transparent relationships with parents grounded in trust and clarity.Share regular classroom updates, reflections, and learning documentation through approved digital platforms.Conduct PTMs and student-led conferences focused on progress, strengths, and next steps.Address parent concerns empathetically, in alignment with school values and protocols.Required Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education / Primary Education / Child Development or a related field.Experience:3–6 years of teaching experience in early primary grades (Grades 1–3).Preferred Background:Experience in IB PYP / Cambridge / inquiry-based / progressive school environments.Expertise:Strong understanding of concept-based learning, early literacy and numeracy development, and authentic assessment practices.Language:Excellent fluency in English (written and verbal); additional Indian languages are an advantage.Digital Fluency:Proficiency in Google Workspace for Education, digital lesson planning, assessments, and documentation tools.Google Certified Educator Level 1 & 2 mandatory.Interested leaders who resonate deeply with this philosophy may apply here: resume@wisdomwoodhigh.in
