Principal Mechanic

Our Laboratory is a cutting-edge centre dedicated to advancing fire safety through science and research. We specialise in offering testing, inspection, certification, and R&D services for fire safety equipment, systems, and suppression agents.The Mechanical Testing Engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting mechanical tests, analysing data, and preparing clear technical reports under the guidance of our technical lead.This is a core technical role ideal for someone who enjoys being on the test floor, working with equipment, and diving into data to understand how and why materials/components behave the way they do.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct mechanical tests (e.g. tension, compression, bending, shear, hardness, impact, etc.) as per relevant standardsAssist in setting up test rigs, fixtures, sensors and data acquisition systemsPrepare test specimens, ensure correct mounting/alignment, and run trials as requiredSupport development and refinement of test methods and fixturesData Analysis & ReportingRecord, validate and analyse test data with high accuracyUse basic statistical tools and engineering calculations to interpret resultsPrepare clear, concise test reports with data, graphs and technical conclusionsEquipment & Lab PracticesOperate and perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical testing equipmentFollow preventive maintenance and calibration schedulesAdhere to lab SOPs, work instructions and quality system requirementsEligibility & QualificationsB.Sc. / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanics / Physics with 2-3 years of relevant lab testing experienceTechnical Experience (Preferred)Hands-on experience in at least some of the following: tensile, compression, bend, shear, hardness, impact or fatigue testingWorking with UTM and basic mechanical test fixturesKey Skills & CompetenciesStrong fundamentals in mechanics/materialsHigh attention to detail and data accuracyGood documentation and report-writing skillsProblem-solving attitude and willingness to learn new test methods
