Job Title: Buyer
Location: Coimbatore
Responsibilities
- Manage order backlog after order entry, ensuring that orders flow through the order fulfillment cycle efficiently.
- Manage inventory (for the commodity managed).
- Manage open POs and suppliers by commodity.
- Validate order configuration.
- Maintain and communicate order delivery dates.
- Plan production parts per manufacturing production requirements.
- Work to drive on-time delivery to the customer.
- Partner with other functions (Manufacturing, Engineering & Finance) to resolve or escalate any issues preventing on-time order fulfillment.
- Partner with finance to monitor accurate revenue recognition on assigned orders.
- Execute planning process, create purchase orders, and communicate with suppliers.
- Review and resolve material shortages daily.
- Review open purchase orders daily, expedite past due orders, and obtain supplier promise dates.
- Ensure materials are available on time while simultaneously minimizing inventory.
- Maintain the accuracy of planning parameters in the MRP system.
- Drive improvement in supplier on-time delivery.
- Interact with key suppliers.
Requirement & Skills
- Four-year degree required.
- 2-5 years of prior work experience in Planning & Procurement
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel
- Proficient in PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
- PLM hands-on usage experience preferred.
- Experience with ERP & MRP tools.
- Experience using PC/MRP is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Six Sigma Lean manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and VMI
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, resourceful, creative, results-oriented, and decisive
- Able to lead a project cross-functionally, beginning to end, to achieve objectives.
- Comfortable with significant autonomy (will have authority to represent and make commitments internally on behalf of the Materials group)
- Solid understanding of product life cycles -- from concept and design through production, service, sales, and execution -- and their impact on planning and procurement.
