Radiation Safety SpecialistOur ideal candidate is a seasoned Radiation Safety Specialist with expertise in radiation safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and statutory licensing for radiology and imaging systems. They must be knowledgeable about AERB and NABL guidelines.This role requires a professional who can implement and monitor radiation safety protocols across all radiology equipment manufacturing, testing, and validation areas. Conducting radiation surveys, leakage testing, and shielding verification to ensure workplace and personnel safety are also key responsibilities.Key Responsibilities:Implement and monitor radiation safety protocols to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation from medical imaging equipment.Conduct regular radiation surveys to detect any potential hazards and take corrective action.Maintain accurate records of radiation exposure and ensure that all activities are performed within prescribed safety limits.Certify the calibration and proper usage of radiation monitoring devices and personal dosimeters.Licensing & Compliance:Handle and coordinate AERB licensing for manufacturing, installation, and servicing of X-Ray, C-Arm, DR, and CT systems.Prepare, maintain, and submit documentation required for AERB, NABL, and ISO 13485 certification.Liaise with regulatory authorities for approvals, renewals, audits, and inspections to ensure seamless compliance.Evaluate and ensure that all testing facilities and radiation-emitting devices adhere to AERB and BIS 13450 standards.Training & Support:Serve as the designated Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the radiology production facility.Deliver training and guidance to employees on radiation safety best practices and emergency preparedness procedures.Investigate and report any incidents involving radiation exposure or non-compliance.Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and recommend changes to enhance radiation protection measures.Record Keeping & Audit Support:Prominently maintain detailed and up-to-date records of radiation monitoring, calibration, and licensing documentation.Provide support during internal and external audits related to radiation safety and regulatory compliance.Collaborate with Quality, Production, and R&D teams to integrate radiation safety into product design and process workflows.Facility Management:Work closely with Testing, QC, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe handling and disposal of radiation-emitting components according to regulatory guidelines.Coordinate with facility management to implement shielding, warning signage, and access control systems in radiation areas.Support customer site regulatory documentation for installation and commissioning of imaging systems.
