Obstetrics and Gynecology registrar

The OBG Registrar provides high-quality medical care to pregnant women, newborns, and patients with gynecological conditions. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and managing obstetric and gynecological cases under the supervision of Consultant Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical:

1. Conduct deliveries, cesarean sections, and other surgical procedures.

2. Manage labor wards, antenatal clinics, and gynecology outpatient services.

3. Assess and manage obstetric emergencies (e.g., postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia).

4. Perform and interpret ultrasound scans.

5. Provide antenatal and postnatal care.

Gynecology:

1. Manage gynecological conditions (e.g., endometriosis, fibroids).

2. Perform gynecological surgeries (e.g., hysterectomies, tubal ligations).

3. Conduct colposcopy and cervical screening.

4. Provide family planning and reproductive health services.

Departmental:

1. Participate in ward rounds, clinics, and multidisciplinary meetings.

2. Collaborate with midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

3. Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives.

4. Assist in teaching medical students and junior staff.

Administrative:

1. Maintain accurate and timely medical records.

2. Complete discharge summaries, reports, and other documentation.

3. Participate in audit and research projects.

4. Attend departmental meetings and conferences.

Requirements:

Education:

- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) / DGO/DNB/MS/MD

Experience:

- 1+ years of OBG experience, preferably in a registrar role.

- Experience in general obstetrics, gynecology, or subspecialties (e.g., maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology).
