Job Title: Senior Database ArchitectThe role of a Senior Database Architect revolves around designing, implementing, and overseeing the performance of an organisation's database architecture. Design and implement scalable database architectures to meet business requirements Ensure optimal database performance, security, and integrity Develop and maintain data migration strategies Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including development and IT teams. As a Senior Database Architect, you will be responsible for leading large-scale database projects from planning to implementation, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned throughout the process. You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to articulate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner. You will also be required to stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the organisation.Responsibilities: define database models, schemas, and structures for applications ensure designs meet scalability, performance, and security requirements evaluate and choose the right database technologies monitor system performance (queries, indexes, workloads) optimise queries, indexing strategies, and storage ensure high availability and low latency oversee backups, restores, patching, replication, failover strategies ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested manage data migrations and upgrades implement access control, encryption, and compliance standards ensure data integrity, consistency, and auditability lead a team of DBAs, data engineers, or developers work with application architects, project managers, and other technical leads communicate risks, design decisions, and strategies to stakeholders manage cloud database services plan and lead database modernisation efforts oversee adoption of managed services, automation, and IaC collaborate with development teams to ensure database alignment with business objectives A successful Senior Database Architect will be able to strike a balance between meeting business needs and ensuring the effective management of the database infrastructure.
