Position Summary: We are seeking a Lead Quality Engineer with 7+ years of experience to lead and drive the quality assurance initiatives across the development lifecycle. As a key member of the engineering team, you will take ownership of the quality processes, methodologies, and tools used within the organization, ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards. The Lead Quality Engineer will play a critical role in leading testing efforts, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve quality goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers, guiding test strategies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of quality assurance activities, ensuring alignment with product development timelines and goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to improve team performance and skill development.
  • Test Strategy & Planning:
  • Define and implement comprehensive test strategies across functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define test requirements, objectives, and coverage.
  • Develop detailed test plans, resource estimates, and schedules to ensure effective testing of all product features.
  • Automation & Tools Development:
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of test automation frameworks to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes that can improve test automation and continuous integration practices.
  • Oversee the execution of automated and manual test cases and track defects, ensuring effective root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Quality Metrics & Reporting:
  • Define and track key quality metrics (e.g., defect density, test coverage, test pass rates) to evaluate product quality and test effectiveness.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders, including management and cross-functional teams, on the quality status, risks, and improvements.
  • Analyze trends in test results and drive corrective actions to address recurring quality issues.
  • Process Improvement & Best Practices:
  • Champion the adoption of best practices in quality assurance across all phases of product development, from requirements gathering to release.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes to reduce cycle time, improve quality, and drive efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of quality across the engineering and product teams, promoting a proactive approach to quality in every phase of development.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Development, Product Management, and Operations teams to ensure seamless integration of quality processes into product development.
  • Collaborate on requirements analysis, design reviews, and release readiness to ensure comprehensive coverage of quality aspects.
  • Provide expertise in identifying risks and mitigating potential issues related to quality across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in manual and automated testing, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycles (SDLC) and testing methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.) for test automation.
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify, debug, and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Experience in performance testing using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and web/mobile testing.
  • Experience with security testing, accessibility testing, and/or compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR).
  • Certifications in quality engineering (e.g., ISTQB, Six Sigma, etc.) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile testing frameworks and methodologies.
  • Prior experience in product development and software delivery for [insert industry or domain, e.g., fintech, healthcare, e-commerce].
