Job Title: Orthopedic Associate Professor

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Education:

• Deliver lectures and clinical demonstrations to medical students, interns, and residents.
• Design, update, and implement the curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.
• Supervise clinical training in hospital settings, including rounds, outpatient clinics, and surgeries (if applicable to the specialty).
• Conduct assessments, examinations, and guide students in clinical skills and knowledge.

2. Clinical Duties:

• Provide patient care in hospital outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Perform surgeries, procedures, or treatments relevant to their medical specialty (e.g., surgeries for an orthopedic professor or consultations for a physician).
• Supervise junior doctors and residents in clinical decision-making.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for comprehensive patient care.

3. Research:

• Conduct and oversee medical research in the department, collaborating with peers across specialties.
• Publish research findings in reputable medical journals.
• Mentor and guide students, residents, and junior faculty in research activities.
• Apply for research grants and contribute to advancing knowledge in their field.

4. Academic Leadership:

• Participate in academic committees, contributing to policy and decision-making in the department or institution.
• Assist in developing departmental strategies and ensuring quality teaching and patient care.
• Organize and lead seminars, conferences, and workshops on medical topics.

5. Mentorship:

• Guide and mentor junior faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns.
• Supervise thesis work, research projects, and dissertations.

6. Administrative Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the management of the medical department by assisting the Head of Department (HOD) in administrative duties.
• Help coordinate departmental meetings, teaching schedules, and clinical rotations.
• Participate in hospital administration when necessary, ensuring alignment with academic and clinical goals.

Qualifications:

1. Educational Requirements:

• MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent medical degree.
• MD/MS (Doctor of Medicine/Master of Surgery) or equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant specialty.
• Additional certifications or fellowships in the specific medical field can be an added advantage.

2. Experience:

• Typically, 8-10 years of experience in the medical field, with at least 3-5 years in a teaching or academic role.
• Experience in both clinical practice and medical research is often required.
• Proven record of publications in reputable medical journals.

3. Skills:

• Strong teaching and communication skills.
• Proficiency in clinical decision-making and patient care.
• Research-oriented mindset with the ability to guide academic projects.
• Administrative and leadership capabilities.
