About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Mobile Apps Team and drive the development of new features while supporting the evolution of our services and products. In this role, you will collaborate with the Product Owner, Area Architect, and other team members to define and deliver scalable, high-quality backend solutions. You will work on powering iOS and Android apps, managing various aspects of the customer journey, and contributing to the success of one of Europe's leading pet e-commerce platforms.
You’ll use Python and frameworks like Flask or Django, with opportunities to leverage modern tools and practices such as AWS, Terraform, Microservices, and Docker.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support backend solutions using microservices architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend solutions into mobile apps.
- Promote and implement automated testing (unit and integration tests).
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient development and deployment workflows.
- Deploy applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Participate in solution investigation, planning, and alignment with other teams.
- Work in an Agile environment, contributing to code reviews, pair programming, and incident coordination.
- Maintain and improve existing applications, reducing technical debt while delivering new features.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with Python development.
- Strong expertise in Flask or Django frameworks.
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, container orchestration, monitoring, and alerting.
- Ability to independently investigate and implement new features.
- Solid understanding of unit testing and backend quality assurance.
- Knowledge of Agile values and practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior colleagues.
- Empathy and relationship-building capabilities.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with Java and Spring framework.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, RDS, SNS, SQS).
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Background in the e-commerce domain.
