Job Description: Senior Databricks Architect with AI Focus


Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Databricks Architect with expertise in AI/ML integration to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable data platforms using Databricks. This role focuses on building AI-ready data architectures to support machine learning, advanced analytics, and real-time data processing. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in Databricks and Spark with a strategic vision for leveraging AI/ML to drive business outcomes.



Key Responsibilities

  • Databricks Architecture & Implementation:
  • Design and implement scalable and cost-effective Databricks Lakehouse architectures for enterprise data needs.
  • Optimize Databricks clusters for performance, storage, and query execution to support AI/ML workloads.
  • Develop and manage Delta Lake solutions for streaming and batch data processing.
  • AI/ML Integration:
  • Collaborate with data scientists to design and implement data pipelines for model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Use Databricks MLflow to streamline the management and operationalization of machine learning models.
  • Leverage Databricks AutoML and integration with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn for AI solutions.
  • Data Engineering & Pipeline Development:
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks and Spark for structured and unstructured data.
  • Enable real-time and batch data processing workflows for AI/ML and analytics platforms.
  • Develop data pipelines that integrate seamlessly with cloud-native services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Data Governance, Security, and Compliance:
  • Define and enforce governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, lineage, and compliance with regulations.
  • Implement robust security measures, including role-based access control, encryption, and tokenization.
  • Establish and monitor data usage policies within Databricks environments.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Act as the technical lead for Databricks and AI-related initiatives, mentoring junior engineers and architects.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for data and AI/ML workflows.
  • Innovation & Emerging Technologies:
  • Stay updated on advancements in Databricks, Apache Spark, and AI/ML technologies.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging tools and frameworks to enhance the platform's capabilities.
  • Advocate for best practices in Databricks usage and AI/ML integration.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or architecture, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Proficiency in Spark, PySpark, and Databricks platform capabilities (e.g., Delta Lake, MLflow).
  • Strong experience in building and optimizing data pipelines for AI/ML workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their respective Databricks integrations.
  • Strong understanding of distributed computing principles and real-time data processing.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data tools and frameworks such as Kafka, Hadoop, or Flink.
  • Knowledge of deploying AI/ML models in production environments and monitoring performance.
  • Certifications: Databricks Certified Professional, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Databricks SQL.
