Linux Specialist

ResponsibilitiesAs an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and supporting virtualization and server infrastructure in dispersed datacenter locations globally. You will support all aspects of server infrastructure from the Operating System layer through to virtualization and hardware layer.Act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Linux-based systemsDeploy, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems (primarily Ubuntu) across global datacenter environmentsDevelop and maintain scripts (Bash, Python, or similar) for system administration, monitoring, and operational tasksImplement and manage patching, hardening, and security compliance for Linux systemsTroubleshoot performance issues and optimize Linux environments for scalability and reliabilityProvide expert-level support to deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade Infrastructure in on-prem and colocation datacenter spaces, as well as cloud services such as AWSDesign and implement hybrid solutions that integrate on-premises environments with AWS cloud services for scalability and resilienceAutomate provisioning and configuration of resources using tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, or TerraformProvide support for Cisco UCS, and traditional Dell and HP serversConfigure, monitor, maintain, and upgrade multiple large Hyper-V clustersProvide support for large-scale enterprise DNSParticipate in high-severity incidents, take ownership, and lead charge in troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause analysisFamiliarize with Jira workflow, ticketing procedures, and implementationsLiaise with vendors/business units to build and document infrastructure environmentsProvide expert advice, critically examine infrastructure and processes, and introduce/follow best practices to meet or exceed high availability, reliability, security, and industry complianceFoster team collaboration, regularly and generously share knowledge, and participate in mentoring/upskilling junior team membersParticipate in on-call rotationsRequired Skills / ExperienceStrong hands-on experience with Linux administration (Ubuntu preferred)Familiarity with Linux networking, system performance tuning, and troubleshootingExperience with package management, kernel updates, and system hardeningExpert-level knowledge of core systems concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, Operating system, Virtualization, SSL Certificates/PKIHands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch) and hybrid cloud integrationFamiliarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools for AWS (CloudFormation, Terraform)Proficiency in automation tools such as Ansible for configuration managementScripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and operational efficiencyExperience working on large enterprise infrastructure footprint and multi-forest AD environmentWindows Technologies such as IIS, DFS, DHCP, Windows-based DNS, Certificate authority, File sharesExpert-level knowledge of and extensive experience in Virtualization technologies, such as Microsoft Hyper-VKnowledge of and experience working with datacenter storage from various providers, including Dell, Pure, and HPEExperience with storage concepts such as fibre-channel zoning, iSCSI, CIFS, NFS, and Block-configurationExperience in backup technologies, including, but not limited to Veeam, Commvault, and CohesityExperience working in large geographically dispersed multiple Datacenter Infrastructure and OperationsKnowledge on orchestration, compute, storage, and networking conceptsKnowledge of Jira, Scrum, Sprint, and Kanban conceptsExperience: 5 to 10 years
