As a Sr IT Automation Engineer on the team, you will provide guidance and expertise in code build and release automation, CI/CD pipelines, overall DevOps methodologies and cloud infrastructure design. You will be driving strategic & mission-critical initiatives, technology assessment, architecture decisions, and building custom solutions by partnering with various technology teams and leaders.This role will be eligible for remote work. You will be surrounded by a high-caliber team that will encourage you to do your best.In this role, you will: Evaluate, innovate, develop, implement, and support any variety of internal Engineering automation systems geared to produce efficiency at scaleWrite code for various management tools, test automation and deployment utilitiesIntegrate and implement best practices and DevOps methodologies in every step of the IT engineering processDesign, develop, support and manage integrations to internal and external systems as requiredDeliver high quality software using development methodologiesAutomate manual processes and continuously optimize systems for performance, cost efficiency, and scalabilityConduct research and make recommendations on improvements to systems, tools, and processesManage technical requirements gathering, technical gap analysis, and contribute to backlog groomingChampion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new officesMinimum requirements for the role:A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, engineering or related field6+ years of experience in a DevOps Engineer or similar role; experience in software development and infrastructureHave advanced experience in Python or similar programming languagesHave first-hand experience with various API's and integration platformsHave experience developing Slack AppsExperience with application containerization platformsExperience with CICD build toolsHave extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and the underlying constituent services providedProgressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems, applications and major SaaS solutionsSolid understanding of source code versioning and exposure to Git, GitHubAbility to spearhead and drive work without supervision across functions and collaborate with all levels of users and managementMust be detail oriented, self-organized, be committed to quality and capable of tracking multiple work streams simultaneouslyAbility to work in a fast-changing, dynamic, and agile environment, including the ability to manage time and maintain an excellent work ethicStrong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizationsAn ideal candidate also has:Exposure to scale in a SaaS-first IT environment (Google Workspace, Okta, Okta Workflows, Workato, Slack, Zoom, Github, Zendesk, etc)Familiarity with common AI services and tools (LLM's, Agents, Assistants, etc.)Developed and managed applications in a team environmentExperience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, OpsGenie, StatusPage)Experience with Splunk and WorkatoExpertise with Google Workspace and Google Cloud PlatformExperience in a fast-paced environment
