Division Overview:

Nomura's Global Markets Division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. We have taken market-leading positions across the globe by leveraging the strength of our talent, client relationships and technology.

Business Overview:

Global Markets (GM) Powai team is an extension of regional Global Markets (Front Office) teams supporting Equities, Securitized Products, Rates, FX, and Credit. The division in Powai provides support for a range of activities like research, quantitative modelling, sales and trading support, pricing and balancing, product development and strategy. Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.

The Business Management/ CAO team in Mumbai is a key business unit within the GM division. It houses a number of extended teams for various regional functions such as AEJ & EMEA GM Business Management, GM Digital Office (GMDO) CAO, Client Account Management and Strategy (CAMS), GM Control Office (GMCO), International Wealth Management (IWM) BM & Control Office, and Senior Relationship Management (SRM). All the sub teams are an integral part of the broader Business Management / CAO/ respective teams with their principal centres in Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, New York and Mumbai.

This particular role is within the AEJ GM Sales CAO/ Business Management & CAM team. The Business Managers play a strategic role in delivering the Global Markets business agenda. They work extensively with Business Heads to drive their strategy, execute the business plans and run the floor. They are the face of business for the various Corporate Functions and are responsible for implementing the business policies.

Position Specifications:

Corporate Title: Analyst/ Associate

Experience: 2 – 6 years of relevant experience

Qualification: MBA from Tier 1 B-school, CA, Masters/ Bachelor’s degree in Business/ Finance/ Economics or similar field from a top tier university

Role & Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our fast paced and growing AEJ Global Markets COO/Business Management team , based in Powai, Mumbai, which will collaborate closely with the broader AEJ Global Markets Business Management team in Singapore, and Hong Kong.
  • The individual will partner with Regional Product and Sales COOs and work very closely with the Head of Sales for AEJ Equity products to drive key business initiatives with a focus on client franchise growth, long term business expansion, and overall business positioning.
  • The individual will play a key role in liaising with Equity Sales Desk Heads and Equity Salespersons in formulating, Client strategy, Competitor benchmarking, Client wallet sizing, Client onboarding pipeline and Revenue pool trends for the AEJ Equities business.
  • The individual will assume day-to-day responsibilities which will contribute towards business management, performance monitoring, managing infrastructure/ processes which support AEJ Equity Sales.
  • The individual will need to be well versed with using all sales systems and be responsible for producing sales analytics (Revenue trends, hit miss ratios, top trades etc.) on a regular basis for management reporting
  • The role provides wide exposure into Global Markets Equity Products business for Institutional clients.
  • The role would require working with Global Market – Sales, Trading, Structuring, and Research and also with all the GM Corporate functions – Compliance, Treasury, Legal, Finance, Middle Office, IT and Product Control.
  • The role may potentially require to travel to Hong Kong for short periods for working with regional COOs and Sales leadership to support key strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Analysis, and Management Presentations

  • Independently drive strategic initiatives with Sales Desk Heads using data-backed actionable insights
  • Strategic assessment of outperforming/ underperforming businesses using client analytics and market/ business dynamics to suggest recommendations for business heads
  • Continuously track all ongoing initiatives in the AEJ Equity Sales business with diligent follow up with relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare management presentations to summarize revenue, expenses, resource consumption and other management reporting metrics
  • Prepare presentations for senior management board meetings, investor day, off-sites, Town Halls
  • Participate in annual sales budgeting exercise for AEJ Equity Sales business by performing historical revenue analysis and bottom-up revenue forecasting
  • Work with COO team and Sales leadership on streamlining and tracking on client onboarding process

Stakeholder Management

  • Be the go-to person for Head of AEJ Equity Sales for all day to day tasks and strategic initiatives
  • Proactive in working with Regional COOs and Sales Heads
  • Crisp and concise communication with all stakeholders
  • Strong sense of ownership and dedication towards timely deliverables

Owning and Driving key business initiatives to achieve GM business objectives

  • Setup appropriate infra and support systems to monitor progress
  • Coordinate with various corporate functions to ensure seamless execution
  • Optimize onboarding process
  • Foster collaboration between Prime and Cash Equity teams on hedge fund coverage, assessing quality of revenues and balances against resources allocation

Partnering with Technology, Operations, Finance, other Corporatefunctions

  • Own day to day issues pertaining to various corporate functions and ensure closure

Control and Conduct

  • Owning Audit points and business continuity management (BCM) plan for the unit
  • Expense approval, tracking and expense management

Skill Set:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in building strong relationships with key stakeholders at senior levels
  • Good Knowledge of Capital Market products and asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Forex, Derivatives)
  • Strong Analytical and Problem solving skills
  • Good project management skills - planning, coordination/ execution, stakeholder mgmt
  • Is entrepreneurial and independent; self-starter, takes ownership, exhibits integrity, strong motivation and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize high volumes of deliverables across multiple disciplines working under pressure
  • Ambition and enthusiasm to succeed in this challenging role
  • Prior experience in strategy roles would be an added advantage
  • Prior experience of driving initiatives in the Global Markets space, experience of working on cross-functional projects
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau etc. would be an added advantage
