Job DescriptionThe purpose of this engagement is to create assessment items aligned to state standards and state assessment tests across 7 states. The subject matter expert will review content alignment and ensure quality and accuracy for English Language Arts (ELA).Assessment development involves creating questions in the style according to state test blueprints for ELA grades 3-8 and English I. Each course will have passages and questions, covering each of the 7 states and 7 grade levels.AI-generated and SME-authored assessment items, including passages as needed, are also part of this project. Assessment items must have a specific distribution of Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels.SME ResponsibilitiesThe subject matter expert collaborates with the Learning Design team to generate and review AI-generated multiple-choice and non-multiple-choice questions developed for each grade level and state.Content accuracy and clarity: evaluating questions for errors, ambiguities, or language/phrasing not suitable for the grade level.Pedagogical relevance: ensuring questions effectively assess intended skills for specific standards.Rigor of assessment: aligning questions with testing best practices, DOK levels, clear answers, and distractors.Adherence to client writing guidelines for assessment items and passages.Alignment to Common Core standards for ELA, identifying any misalignment to be corrected.The SME validates feedback from the Learning Design team and provides a sign-off on each item's content accuracy, relevance, rigor, and standards/objective alignment.
