Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled GIS & BI Solution Architect with deep expertise in geospatial platforms, enterprise architecture, and business intelligence. This role will lead the design and deployment of integrated GIS-Power BI solutions supporting land analytics, lease economics, and operational KPIs in the oil & gas sector. Key Responsibilities • Architect and deploy ESRI-based GIS solutions (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS) • Integrate GIS data with Power BI for geospatial analytics and executive dashboards • Design and optimize spatial databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, Oracle Spatial) • Develop ETL pipelines using Python (GeoPandas, ArcPy, FME) and Power Query • Build web mapping applications using JavaScript (Leaflet, OpenLayers, ArcGIS JS API) • Implement REST APIs and Power BI REST API for automation and data integration • Lead BI architecture and reporting strategy aligned with land and lease performance metrics • Manage Power BI Service including workspace governance, gateway configuration, and RLS • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions • Drive cloud-based deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP) for scalable GIS and BI systems • Enable self-service analytics and establish governance frameworks Technical Skills & Tools GIS Platforms & Architecture • ESRI Suite: ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Portal • Enverus GIS tools, energy-specific data platforms • GIS infrastructure design: servers, databases, web services • Power BI geospatial integration Programming & Development • Python: GeoPandas, Shapely, Fiona, Rasterio, PyProj, ArcPy • SQL/PostgreSQL + PostGIS, Advanced SQL & DAX • JavaScript: Leaflet, OpenLayers, ArcGIS JS API • REST API development, Power BI REST API, PowerShell Data Management & Analytics • Spatial DB design: SQL Server Spatial, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial • ETL: FME, Power Query, Python scripts • Metadata management, data governance • Land, well, lease data management • Data warehouse design for GIS + BI Business Intelligence • Power BI: DAX, Power Query, data modeling • ArcGIS Maps for Power BI, custom visuals • Executive dashboards: lease analytics, land KPIs • Power BI Service admin, real-time reporting, RLS Oil & Gas Domain Expertise • Land ownership, mineral rights, lease/title data • Well spacing, drilling units, regulatory boundaries • Land grid systems: PLSS, Texas State Plane • KPI development: lease utilization, revenue/acre, auction analytics Architecture & Design • Enterprise GIS & BI architecture • System integration: land management, ERP • Cloud architecture: AWS, Azure, GCP • Microservices, API-first design • Performance optimization, scalability planning Professional Qualifications • –10+ years GIS experience, 3–5 years in design/architecture roles • years Power BI development and deployment • Strong stakeholder engagement and executive presentation skills • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor others • Bachelor's/Master's in GIS, Geography, CS, Data Analytics • Preferred: GISP, ESRI certifications, Power BI Data Analyst Associate • Oil & gas industry experience highly desirable Key Deliverables • Executive dashboards: land portfolio, lease economics, auction success • Spatial analytics: competitive landscape, acreage positions • Operational reports: well production, lease status, geographic overlays • Predictive models: land valuation, auction strategy
