As a Lead AI/ML Engineer at Optum AI, you’ll be designing and developing AI systems to improve patient care.About the AI Data Engineering TeamWe often deliver the entire solution, from healthcare data integration, AI model deployment, processing, results and analytics, to the applications used for reviewing clinical data and AI results. Our current projects involve building cutting edge Generative AI technologies from scratch. The data we work on ranges from patient charts, radiology reports to X-Rays and other clinical data.We have the data and resources to make an impact on a scale. We are a globally distributed and diverse team with the shared passion to improve patient outcomes, improve healthcare operations and streamline payments.We pay attention to the details to make sure we deliver quality, the first time.Primary Responsibilities:Lead the design and implementation of systems that enables Optum to derive information from patient data in a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective mannerAnalyze clinical data and determine the best designs on how to process this dataEnsure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code and specificationsLead by example to deliver product quality, including agile SCRUM methodologies, unit tests, code reviews and engineering design specifications.Lead systems design to allow customers to effectively ingest and store patient-related data and for data scientists and engineers to access this data with easeResearch and recommend new AI technologiesBe a trusted technical advisor to management, internal stakeholders, and customersMentor and lead other engineers to reach their potentialLeverage AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation Required Qualifications:11-15 years of progressive experience in ITQualifications with B Tech/ M Tech Proven track record of engaging with customers to design and deliver at least two complete AI products, from ideation to product release4+ years in Python programming2+ experience with CI/CD, such as GitHub actions4+ years of hands-on experience in modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or Google)2+ Years experience in a team lead roleExperience using AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation, such as GitHub CoPilotAdditional QualificationsExperience designing real time LLM based cloud systems is a plusExperience in Healthcare is a plus
