Job Title: Lead Database AdministratorWe are seeking an experienced professional to lead our database administration team.Job Description:Our company is looking for a skilled and strategic leader to modernize our database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DB2 databases and proven experience in migrating on-premises databases to AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL.Key Responsibilities:Database Architecture & Design:Define robust database models, schemas, and structures for applications.Ensure designs meet scalability, performance, and security requirements.Evaluate and choose the right database technologies.Performance & Optimisation:Monitor system performance (queries, indexes, workloads) and optimize accordingly.Improve queries, indexing strategies, and storage to ensure high availability and low latency.Database Operations & Maintenance:Oversee backups, restores, patching, replication, failover strategies.Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested regularly.Manage data migrations and upgrades efficiently.Data Governance & Security:Implement access control, encryption, and compliance standards to protect sensitive data.Ensure data integrity, consistency, and auditability across all systems.Leadership & Coordination:Lead a team of database administrators, data engineers, or developers to achieve common goals.Work closely with application architects, project managers, and other technical leads to drive innovation.Communicate risks, design decisions, and strategies to stakeholders effectively.Cloud & Modernisation:Manage cloud database services to leverage scalability and flexibility.Plan and lead database modernization efforts, including migrating from on-prem to cloud environments.Oversee adoption of managed services, automation, and infrastructure as code (IaC) to streamline operations.Requirements:Deep expertise in DB2 databases and migration to AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL.Proven experience in leading large-scale database migrations and ensuring high availability.Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Familiarity with database architecture, design, and optimization techniques.Experience with cloud database services, automation, and IaC.What We Offer:A competitive salary and benefits package.Ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills.A collaborative and dynamic work environment that encourages innovation and growth.
