Role Overview
The Manager – Software & Applications will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, customization, integration, and ongoing support of hospital software solutions including Hospital Information System (HIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Laboratory Information System (LIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), PACS, Billing & Finance applications, SAP integration and other clinical/administrative applications. The role ensures seamless operations, user adoption, and alignment of software solutions with hospital workflows, compliance standards, and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Application Management
- · Lead end-to-end lifecycle management of HIS/EMR, LIS, RIS, PACS, and other hospital applications.
- · Oversee customization, workflow configuration, and integration with medical devices, ERP, SAP and third-party systems.
- · Ensure application performance, high availability, and minimal downtime.
- · Maintain application databases and ensure data integrity and security.
2.Operations & Support
- · Lead the application support team to resolve user issues and service requests in a timely manner.
- · Develop training programs and conduct end-user training sessions for doctors, nurses, and staff.
- · Document workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user manuals.
- · Implement monitoring tools for application health and proactively resolve performance issues.
3. Projects & Development
- · Work closely with vendors for new modules, upgrades, and enhancements.
- · Manage in-house development/customization where required (dashboards, reports, analytics).
- · Drive digital transformation initiatives such as telemedicine platforms, patient portals, and mobile applications.
- · Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT infrastructure teams to align technology with patient care needs.
4. Compliance & Security
- · Ensure applications comply with healthcare regulations and standards (HIPAA, NABH, HL7, DICOM).
- · Implement proper role-based access controls and audit trails.
- · Work with the cybersecurity team to secure sensitive patient and hospital data.
5. Team & Vendor Management
- · Lead a team of application analysts, developers, and support staff.
- · Manage relationships with software vendors, service providers, and consultants.
- · Monitor SLAs and ensure timely delivery of projects and support.
6. Compliance & Security
- Ensure applications comply with healthcare regulations and standards (HIPAA, NABH, HL7, DICOM).
- · Implement proper role-based access controls and audit trails.
- · Work with the cybersecurity team to secure sensitive patient and hospital data
7.Team & Vendor Management
- Lead a team of application analysts, developers, and support staff.
- · Manage relationships with software vendors, service providers, and consultants.
- · Monitor SLAs and ensure timely delivery of projects and support
Qualifications:
- Education:
i) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (mandatory).
ii) Master’s Degree (MBA in Healthcare IT / M.Tech) preferred.
iii) Certifications in HIS/EMR solutions, HL7, FHIR, or ITIL will be an added advantage.
- Experience:
i) 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in managing healthcare software applications.
ii) Hands-on experience with HIS/EMR, LIS, RIS, PACS, and hospital-specific applications.
iii) Proven track record of application lifecycle management, vendor coordination, and system integration.
iv) Experience in healthcare analytics, dashboards, and BI tools preferred.
v) Prior experience in a 500+ bed hospital environment highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
i) Strong knowledge of healthcare IT standards (HL7, DICOM, ICD, SNOMED).
ii) Proficiency in database management (SQL/Oracle) and reporting tools.
iii) Good understanding of APIs, middleware, and application integration.
iv) Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
v) Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
vi) Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and training skills.
vii) Strong leadership with ability to drive user adoption and digital transformation.
