Lead Data Governance Specialist Job Description As a Lead Data Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for driving enterprise-level data governance initiatives across multiple business domains. Your key objective will be to establish robust governance frameworks, facilitate business workshops, and collaborate with technology teams to operationalize governance using specialized tools and platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and institutionalize data governance frameworks, policies, and processes across business units.Conduct business workshops with enterprise clients to define governance objectives, roles, and ownership models.Help set up and formalize the Data Governance Council — document charters, roles, responsibilities, and governance operating models.Work with data engineering, architecture, and security teams to implement governance controls using platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, and Informatica.Implement and monitor AI governance principles ensuring compliance, ethical AI use, and adherence to organizational policies.Understand diverse business domains — Real Estate, Retail, E-Commerce, Investment Holding, Hospitality & Entertainment, and Government Entities — to align governance frameworks with business priorities.Ensure all governance processes align with Microsoft Security and Compliance Frameworks, regulatory standards, and enterprise risk guidelines.RequirementsStrong experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Information Governance within enterprise environments.Proven ability to conduct governance business workshops and translate outcomes into actionable governance models.Experience in establishing and operationalizing governance councils and defining data ownership structures.Hands-on exposure to governance tools and technologies such as Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, and Informatica.Deep understanding of Microsoft's Security and Compliance Framework and its relevance to data governance.Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.Demonstrated experience working across multiple industries such as Real Estate, Retail, ECommerce, Investment, Hospitality, and Government.Minimum 1 year of experience in AI Governance—understanding how governance principles extend to AI/ML models, data lineage, and responsible AI practices.Preferred Qualifications8–12 years of total experience with at least 4–5 years in Data Governance.Certifications in Data Governance, Data Management (DAMA, DCAM, CDMP), or Microsoft Data/AI certifications are an advantage.Experience working with cloud ecosystems, preferably Microsoft Azure.Excellent presentation and client engagement skills.BenefitsAt our organization, we offer a competitive compensation package, comprehensive health benefits, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
