Linux Software Repository MaintainerWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux software repository maintainer to join our team.Nakshatra Systems is looking for an individual who can service and manage the integrity of a software repository, including updates, upgrades, and patches. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills and be able to work independently or as part of a team.The job is part-time contract based (6 hours max) with a tenure of 6 months, renewable for another 6 months subject to performance. The location is remote, allowing for work from home.Employment gaps are okay if you have the necessary skillset. However, fake experience will not be accepted.Candidates with matching skill sets will be shortlisted and contacted via phone for a technical interview. A legal agreement including NDA and NCA will be signed by the selected candidate.Key Responsibilities:Service and manage the integrity of a software repository.Update, upgrade, and patch software as needed.Work independently or as part of a team.Requirements:Proficient in linux, bash scripting, C, and python.Knowledge of gcc and its cflags dflags prefix etc.Keeping track of software dependencies.Patching - creating / providing / managing software patches.Maintaining Changelog and other documentation.Providing bug fixes and reviewing changes.Knowledge of cvs and git.Connecting with upstream developer for solutions if needed to get issues resolved.Good troubleshooting skills.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Slackware Linux, as candidates with this knowledge will be prioritized over those with Redhat or Debian knowledge.Benefits:This is a part-time contract-based position (6 hours max).The job tenure is 6 months, renewable for another 6 months subject to performance.Remote work from home option available.What We're Looking For:Fluency in English with good verbal and written skills.Ability to work in a team as well as independently.Capacity to resolve assigned tasks within specified time-frames/deadlines.
