Position Title: Placement Officer (MSME Project)
Location: Pune, Maharashtra
Department: Career Services / Placement Cell
Reports To: Director / Head of Placement
Job Overview:
The Placement Officer for the MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) Project will be responsible for managing and coordinating placement activities for students, with a special focus on enhancing opportunities in the MSME sector. This position will bridge the gap between the students of Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM) and the MSME industry, facilitating internships, live projects, and final placements. The officer will work closely with faculty, industry partners, and government bodies to ensure the successful execution of MSME-driven initiatives and help students achieve meaningful career goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Industry Liaison and Networking:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with MSME businesses and industry stakeholders.
- Collaborate with MSME associations, government organizations, and other professional networks to increase placement opportunities.
- Organize career development activities, including workshops, job fairs, and networking events, focusing on the MSME sector.
- Placement and Internship Coordination:
- Ensure the placement of students in MSMEs, aligning their skill sets with industry requirements.
- Coordinate internships, live projects, and final placements with MSMEs for students across various programs.
- Develop placement strategies and work on improving placement statistics within the MSME sector.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with students to guide them in choosing appropriate opportunities and preparing for interviews.
- Training and Development:
- Design and execute training programs that enhance students’ skills and make them job-ready for MSME industries.
- Provide soft skills, technical skills, and industry-specific training to bridge the gap between academia and industry needs.
- Arrange guest lectures, workshops, and seminars with industry experts to give students insight into the MSME sector.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain a database of students, alumni, MSME companies, and placements.
- Track and report on the status of placements, internships, and training activities for the MSME project.
- Provide regular updates to the management on placement progress, challenges, and industry trends.
- Student Counseling and Career Guidance:
- Offer counseling sessions for students regarding career choices, resume building, interview preparation, and industry trends.
- Guide students on understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in the MSME sector.
- Support students in creating tailored career development plans suited for MSME placements.
- Collaboration with Academia:
- Work with academic departments to align curriculum and co-curricular activities with the needs of the MSME industry.
- Facilitate the organization of industry visits, field trips, and guest lectures relevant to MSME trends and practices.
- Project Management and MSME Initiatives:
- Lead initiatives for MSME projects and partnerships that support the career advancement of students.
- Support MSME startups by providing consulting or advisory services and promoting students’ involvement in these initiatives.
- Track the success of MSME-related placement activities and recommend improvements to enhance outcomes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or any related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certification or training in Placement and Career Development or MSME Management is an added advantage.
- Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in placement activities, recruitment, or career counseling, preferably in the MSME sector.
- Prior exposure to working with MSMEs or knowledge of MSME policies and schemes will be beneficial.
- Key Skills:
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and nurture relationships with industry leaders, MSME professionals, and other external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines effectively.
- Understanding of placement trends, resume building, interview techniques, and career counseling.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant tools.
- Knowledge of CRM software, placement management systems, or any other related platforms.
- Personal Traits:
- Self-motivated and results-driven.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Adaptable and innovative to meet industry challenges.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, based at the Pune Institute of Business Management campus.
- Travel to various MSME hubs and industry locations may be required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during peak placement seasons or events.
