Be a part of our cutting-edge team as we seek a highly skilled Backend Engineer to lead the development of our AI Operator's nervous system.The successful candidate will play a crucial role in architecting the Context Layer, which serves as the sensory system that determines how our system perceives reality.This position requires someone who can fuse financial data with messy and unstructured signals, standardizing chaotic inputs from ad platforms, MMPs, first-party data, and internal actions into a rigid and queryable schema.Standardize Data Schemas: Design and maintain canonical data models that normalize conflicting metrics across disparate sources. You will map data from ad platforms like Meta and Google, MMPs like AppsFlyer, first-party data, and internal actions and observers into a unified language for our models.RequirementsA Systems Thinker: 4+ years of experience building high-throughput backend systems in Python, Go, or Java. You value system design and data integrity over specific frameworks.High Agency: You take initiative without needing approval. You diagnose problems and ship fixes. Code is a tool to drive business outcomes.Data Polyglot: Comfortable moving between SQL, NoSQL, and message queues. You handle data in various shapes, sizes, and speeds.Intellectually Honest: Willing to challenge assumptions. If data looks off, you investigate until finding the root cause.Bonus PointsReal-Time Systems: Experience building low-latency systems like high-frequency trading platforms, gaming backends, or real-time bidding exchanges.Complex Scraping: Gathering data from difficult sources with no APIs or rate-limited access.Distributed Systems: Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and managing concurrency in high-volume environments.Data Engineering at Scale: Managing ETL pipelines for terabyte-scale datasets using tools like Airflow, dbt, or Spark.Compensation & BenefitsSalary (When relocating): $170,000 – $220,000Equity: Significant equity package commensurate with a founding roleFood: Daily meals providedRelocation: Support for candidates relocating to the Bay AreaBenefits: Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and unlimited PTO
