Job Overview:The role of a Founding Backend Engineer involves designing and implementing the infrastructure for an AI Operator, which is a key component of a rapidly growing start-up in MarTech. This engineer will be responsible for architecting the Context Layer, which serves as the sensory system that determines how the system sees the world.The engineer will own the infrastructure that fuses rigid financial data with messy and unstructured signals and architect the universal data model that standardizes chaotic inputs from ad platforms, MMPs, first-party data, and internal actions into a rigid and queryable schema.This requires designing and maintaining canonical data models that normalize conflicting metrics across disparate sources, building deep 1P data integrations, integrating unstructured data and LLMs, and architecting the observer framework.Key Responsibilities:Standardize Data Schemas: Design and maintain canonical data models that normalize conflicting metrics across disparate sources.Build Deep 1P Data Integrations: Construct pipelines to ingest high-fidelity signals directly from the source.Integrate Unstructured Data & LLMs: Build workflows that scrape and process multimodal data from ad libraries and social platforms.Architect the Observer Framework: Build the logging and observation infrastructure that records every state change.Requirements:System Thinker: 4+ years of experience building high-throughput backend systems in Python, Go, or Java.High Agency: The ability to diagnose problems and ship fixes without needing approval.Data Polyglot: Comfortability moving between SQL, NoSQL, and message queues.Intellectually Honest: Willingness to challenge assumptions and dig into root causes.
