About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use):07The Team:You'll be part of a team responsible for using hybrid machine-human sources to collect and enhance data about global security and political risks and using that to power a range of innovative predictive applications to better understand what is happening and changing in the world.The Impact:This role requires the collection and publishing of curated intelligence events related to global security and political risk to internal and external clients.Key Responsibilities:Monitor and collect data on ship casualties worldwide (collisions, strandings, missing vessels, fires, etc.).Track ship recycling events (broken up, scuttled, scheduled for demolition).Report on piracy incidents (hijackings, kidnappings, suspicious approaches).Monitor maritime security and legal disputes, including ship arrests and crew abandonment cases.Track crew and passenger incidents, including fatalities, overboard cases, and rescues.Gather and report data on marine pollution events and cargo damage/loss.Verify incidents using open sources, licensed tools, and maritime databases.Draft clear, accurate, and timely incident summaries.Maintain and update internal tracking systems and databases.Support special projects and analyses related to maritime risks and trends.Should be able to support operations on Public holidays, well-being days, any other S&P-provided holidays, and during emergenciesWhat We're Looking For:Graduate degree (or final year student) in Maritime Studies, or a related field.Geo-spatial skills, especially in the maritime/nautical domain, with an apprenticeship as a cartographic technician from a hydrographic office (preferable).Strong research and analytical skills; attention to detail is essential.Ability to work with open-source information (OSINT techniques).Good understanding or strong interest in maritime trade, security, and shipping sectors.Clear and concise writing skills in English.Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage information across multiple streams.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Proficiency in additional languages will be considered an advantage.What's In It For You?Our Purpose:Progress is not a self-starter.
