As a seasoned backend expert, you will form part of the core engineering team building the foundation for a world-class travel platform.Your expertise in Java and Spring Boot will be instrumental in designing and developing mission-critical backend systems that power global hotel & flight booking engines, AI-driven dynamic pricing & demand forecasting systems, high-traffic search, inventory, and reservation microservices, and scalable travel-tech platforms engineered for millions of users.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop backend systems using Java 11+, Spring Boot, JPA/HibernateBuild scalable APIs for hotels, flights, bookings, payments, and user systemsImplement idempotency, retries, consistency guarantees, and fault toleranceWork on booking flows requiring transactional correctness and reliabilityIntegrate with external travel suppliers, hotel partners, GDS/NDC APIs, payment gateways, and handle API authentication, rate limits, SLA constraints, and failover logicOptimize APIs for high throughput and sub-200ms latencies, collaborate with DevOps on AWS deployments, CI/CD, and scaling, and implement circuit breakers, fallbacks, rate limiting, logs, metrics, dashboards, and distributed tracingRequirements:4+ years experience in backend developmentStrong proficiency in Java 11+, Spring Boot, REST APIsExperience designing and scaling microservicesStrong database skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL) including indexing & optimizationExperience with caching: Redis / ElastiCacheHands-on experience with queues: Kafka / RabbitMQ / SQSStrong understanding of transaction boundaries, concurrency, distributed systems fundamentals, idempotency, and consistency patternsExperience with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud environments (AWS preferred)Nice to Have:Experience with travel-tech, booking systems, payments, inventory, or searchExperience with OpenSearch/ElasticsearchExposure to GDS/NDC, hotel suppliers, or B2B integrationsKnowledge of gRPC, DDD, or hexagonal architectureExperience with high-traffic consumer appsMindset:Ownership-driven, reliable, and detail-orientedPassion for system design, scalability, and backend craftsmanshipThrives in fast-paced, high-autonomy startup environments
