Job OverviewThis is a unique opportunity to work with a global technology solutions provider specializing in secure, resilient, and performance-driven IT infrastructure. As a SQL Database Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting the stability, security, and performance of SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms.Your daily tasks will include installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases, managing database provisioning, patching, and lifecycle maintenance, monitoring and optimizing system performance, availability, and capacity, and maintaining secure database configurations, roles, and permissions.ResponsibilitiesDatabase AdministrationInstall, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (2016, 2019, 2022, Azure SQL)Manage database provisioning, patching, and lifecycle maintenanceMonitor and optimize system performance, availability, and capacityMaintain secure database configurations, roles, and permissionsPerformance & OptimizationAnalyze and optimize T-SQL queries, indexes, and schema designsTroubleshoot locking, blocking, and deadlock issuesImplement proactive monitoring and alertingBackup, Recovery & High AvailabilityDevelop and document backup and recovery proceduresManage HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication)Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO requirementsAutomation & Process ImprovementDevelop PowerShell and T-SQL scripts for automationContribute to automation initiatives within HaloPSA and Azure DevOpsImprove Managed Services standards and runbooksSupport & CollaborationProvide expert-level support for critical database incidentsCollaborate with cloud architects, developers, and service desk teamsSupport client onboarding, migrations, and modernization projectsRequirementsTo succeed in this role, you will need:Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)3-5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration within enterprise or MSP environmentsTechnical SkillsAdvanced knowledge of SQL Server architecture, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuningExpertise with SQL Server Agent, SSRS, SSIS, and PowerShell automationStrong understanding of Windows Server administration and Active Directory integrationExperience with Azure SQL, Azure Monitor, and Azure BackupSoft SkillsAnalytical and methodical problem-solving approachExcellent communication and documentation skills (English/French bilingualism an asset)Ability to manage multiple client environments and prioritiesStrong sense of ownership, accountability, and teamworkBenefitsWe offer a competitive package, medical life insurance, work-from-home setup, standard government and Emapta benefits, well-equipped, modern, and accessible offices, employee engagement, mentorship and exposure to global leaders and teams, diverse, inclusive, and supportive culture, transparent performance management, and unlimited upskilling through Emapta Academy courses.
