Senior Programmer II Position OverviewThe role of the Senior Programmer II involves providing programming support to various projects, clients, and therapeutic areas across a range of statistics and programming department initiatives.This position requires an individual with expertise in manipulating large databases, generating reports, and implementing complex logic to enable analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets. The successful candidate must have excellent SAS and SQL programming skills and be comfortable with creating complex analysis data sets derived from various data sources with a careful eye for outliers and errors.We are open to candidates with experience in any therapeutic area, but those with rare diseases expertise are considered a plus.Real World Healthcare claims database experience is essential, with equivalents like EU databases fine for US Market scan/Optum experience.OMOP-Common data model experience is highly valued, even with just one year of experience.The ideal candidate should possess strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills. Technical requirements include proficiency in R and SQL programming, expertise in Oncology databases like Flatiron and COTA, and good understanding of Oncology-specific analyses like Line of Therapy algorithms, Survival analysis, and different statistical models. Experience with R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) and Analytic Datasets, patient cohorts is also desirable.Responsibilities will include leading internal and client study team meetings effectively, presenting study updates internally and at client meetings, sharing scientific, technical, and practical knowledge within the team and with colleagues, performing work in full compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, company policies, procedures, and training, building effective collaborative working relationships with internal and client team members, seeking opportunities to develop innovative ideas, and contributing to development of internal training materials and process improvement initiatives.Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other subject with high statistical content, minimum four years SAS statistical programming experience, database programming using SQL, experience with advanced statistical methods like survival and regression, and experience with real-world healthcare claims and EHR data such as MarketScan, Optum, Flatiron Health, SEER medicare, and Medicare databases. A Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subject with high statistical content is also preferred along with training or experience using the OMOP common data model, Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software, pharmaceutical industry experience, and training or experience in epidemiological methods.
