Senior SAS Administrator/Engineer
Job Description
The Informatics SAS Admin will serve as an important member to enterprise Analytics Platform team and will be focused on supporting Tier 1 server administration. This person will be responsible for the administration and support of SAS servers. Additionally, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting SAS developers, application integration and to end-user setup and administration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administers SAS software and servers in multi-instance environments
- Maintains multiple 24x7 highly available production environments
Proactively collect and monitor server and workbook metrics, conducts performance tuning and capacity management
Plans and manages software/hardware updates and upgrades; implements in a timely manner
Manage security: creating/managing users, folders, libnames, AD groups, server groups, NFS mounts, and licenses. Integrates with Active Directory
Runs and configures SAS server on Linux, SAS grid, and DBMS clients
- Looks for opportunities to optimize SAS deployments
- Resolves SAS server, SAS Client, and customer issues within the service level agreements
- Develops tools and workflows to improve the users’ experience
Create and maintain documentation for policies, procedures and best practices
Interact with other internal departments such as database administrators, network security, web technologies, Identity Management and outside consultants to deliver scalable and highly effective analytic solutions for the business
Participate in and contribute to the implementation of best industry practices
Work with IS and business users to resolve issues
Required Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
Proven experience with SAS server administration
8+ years overall IT experience
3+ years SAS Administration, preferably using SAS grid
Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead system and application upgrades
Proficient SAS Environment Manager, SAS PC Client, SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Management Center as well as with basic scripting skills in Linux.
Proficient with troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause analysis and formulate solution recommendations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to work under minimal supervision with a high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity
Willingness to learn new technologies at an accelerated pace
The ability to provide clear communication to senior management on issue identification and resolution
Leverage in-depth business knowledge to translate complex business analysis and reporting requirements into technical designs
Desired Skills/Experience
Advantages to have experience with IBM DataStage/QS, IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, Crystal, Alteryx, Tableau
Experience with connecting applications with OKTA, AD, and SSO
Experience with data warehousing RDBMS preferably DB2, Oracle, HANA, Databricks, and Snowflake
Unix and Windows scripting
