Job Description:This role is responsible for ensuring aerospace components meet stringent quality and safety standards through hands-on work with various welding processes.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and documenting welding procedure specifications, providing technical support to welders and manufacturing teams, selecting appropriate welding processes and materials, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer-specific requirements.Responsibilities:Develop and document welding procedure specifications (WPS) and PQRs.Provide technical support to welders and manufacturing teams.Select appropriate welding processes, materials, tools, and fixtures.Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer-specific requirements.Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld-related nonconformances.Collaborate with Quality and NDT teams for inspection planning.Assist in continuous improvement projects focused on reducing weld defects and enhancing productivity.Support the setup, maintenance, and calibration of welding equipment.Contribute to fixture design reviews and tooling validation activities.Maintain accurate welding process records and production documentation.Required Skills and Qualifications:Technical skills: GTAW (TIG), GMAW, resistance welding, orbital or laser welding.Knowledge of aerospace materials such as aluminium, titanium, nickel alloys, stainless steel.Familiarity with NADCAP welding requirements and AWS D17.1.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Exposure to NDT methods (PT, RT, UT).Hands-on shop experience supporting welders and manufacturing teams.Experience with CAD, weld parameter monitoring software, or ERP systems.Additional Requirements:Strong written and verbal communication skills.Passion for space exploration and commitment to accessible space.Self-driven engineer who thrives in ambiguity.Passion and tenacity to tackle challenging issues unique to the aerospace industry.Experience in a start-up or agile development environment.Ability to inspire comradery and mutual respect in a diverse team.
